Have you ever wondered how John and I came up with the recipe for our award-winning Top Tomato Bloody Mary Mix?
Like many great ideas, it started in the kitchen.
A Sunday Dinner Inspiration
One Sunday afternoon, about a year and a half ago, I was doing what I love most—cooking Sunday dinner.
On the menu was a family favorite: Sunday sauce made with Marina's Tomato Sauce, Marina's Gluten-Free Meatballs, and Circle B Ranch Sweet and Hot Italian Sausage. The kitchen was filled with wonderful aromas, and we were looking forward to a delicious meal.
As we were preparing dinner, John suddenly said, "I'm really in the mood for a Bloody Mary."
That simple comment sparked an idea.
I started looking around the kitchen and thought, "Why not mix a little of this and a little of that?"
Using several of our favorite Marina's and Big John's products, I began experimenting. After adding a few ingredients, a little water, some ice, and of course a splash of vodka, we discovered something special.
It was a match made in heaven.
From Kitchen Experiment to Customer Favorite
After perfecting the recipe, we knew we had something worth sharing.
The next steps included:
- Refining the recipe
- Sending it out for FDA testing
- Designing a label
- Beginning production
What started as a spontaneous Sunday afternoon experiment soon became Top Tomato Bloody Mary Mix, a product we are incredibly proud to offer.
Today, customers across the country enjoy the same delicious mix that was first created in our kitchen.
And one of the best parts?
Top Tomato Bloody Mary Mix is gluten-free.
The Story Behind the Name
Of course, there's also a story behind the name.
When it came time to design the label, John had a unique vision.
He thought a classic WWII-era pin-up girl would be the perfect centerpiece for the artwork. To tie everything together, she would be sitting atop a giant tomato—the "Top Tomato."
The result was a fun, vintage-inspired label that perfectly captured the personality of the product.
Supporting Our Veterans
The military-inspired theme didn't stop with the label.
John and I have always believed in giving back, especially to those who have sacrificed for our country.
As Top Tomato Bloody Mary Mix continues to grow, our goal is to donate a portion of the profits to organizations that support wounded veterans. Giving back to those who have served is something that is very important to us, and we look forward to expanding those efforts as the business continues to grow.
